Transformed

“…Be Transformed…”

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2

Ah… Spring is near… the daffodils alongside the road across from the church are starting to break through the beer cans and leaves.  It won’t be long now before God transforms the ugliness of the leftovers of a hard winter with a spectacular display of color and new growth.  God has the ability to renew the bleakest of situations, the darkest of days, even the trashiest of lives.

We crave renewal, but then what?  The Apostle Paul suggests that something is supposed to happen after renewal… transformation.  The fresh, renewing power of God’s Spirit is supposed to set us on a new path, a path that celebrates the gift of renewal with healthy living.

Most of us learned at an early age not to litter our trash along the sides of the highway.  We might even “wince” or feel some anger when we see someone roll down a window and heave some unwanted item.  For the most part we’ve learned not to conform to the ways of those who seem to treat the beauty of God’s creation with careless abuse.  How about the rest of our lives?  Maybe we’ve learned not to “trash” God’s creation, but have we’ve also learned not to “trash” each other?

We’ve seen the results of “trashing” each other.  Maybe some of us have felt pretty “trashed” at times.  Ask God for renewal, then ask for help in avoiding the return to the ways that lead to “trashy living.”  Pray to be renewed and transformed.  That’s my prayer.  How about you?

Blessings and Peace,
