New Book

I’m a pastoral counselor, pastor of a local United Methodist church, and the author of the new book, “A Relentless Hope: Surviving the Storm of Teen Depression.”  My wife and I have two grown children.  We almost lost our son to severe depression and anxiety when he was a teen.  The book uses his story as a guide to talk more about teen depression.  There is hope!

Check out our two Boston Terriers.  This is how they perfected their sun bathing while I wrote the book…

  1. Hi Pastor Nelson, I have just added you to my blog roll in a effort of spreading the word about teen depression and suicide prevention. These are two topics near and dear to my heart that I have covered to some extent for some time now. Keep up the good work and I look forward to watching more of your videos and reading many more insightful and inspirational comments from you. You are a true blessing…….

  2. Question: Do you counsel with adults with depression and other issues related to chronic illness and care giver stress? Or do you mainly focus your work on teens? I’d appreciate hearing from you to discuss a situation with my sister who lives in your area.

    • Hi.
I’m happy to talk with anyone. I work with folks of all ages. I am now the pastor of a church so I do not do long term counseling. I usually meeting with folks, give them a sense of what might be helpful, and refer them. Peace, Gary
